Wigan Schools Training Day/Friday Bike/Run sessions

Following the success of the Wigan Schools Triathlon Day on 13th July 2010, we are resuming the Bike/Run sessions on Friday evenings at Leigh Sports Village 6:30pm until 8:00pm.  The cost of the sessions is £3 for children and £3.50 for adults - all welcome especially parents!!  Bring your own bike/helmet, no helmet  - no ride - this applies to adults also.

Over 80 Year 7 children drawn from the 20 senior schools in the Wigan area attended Leigh Sports Village today, they were split into 3 groups - and each group had a Tri in the pool, bike transition, and transition games over the 2 hour period.

The Schools Triathlon itself will be held on Tuesday 21st September in the morning, again at Leigh Sports Village where up to 100 then year 8 pupils will complete a 50m Swim, 1200m Bike and 800m Run to complete their first Triathlon.

Thanks to Leigh Harriers, Leigh Pool, Lesley Mcgreevy and the Schools sports co-ordinators for their assistance in making the training day a memorable experience for the pupils.  Also thanks to the TTW Events Team members - Carl Lane, Martin Holden, and Fiona Myers and British Triathlon coaches Matt Shillabeer and Rich Bardon. Oh and Jo Bishop for her verbal support from the side lines!

If you are interested in joining the Events Team to help with either the Schools Triathlon in September or any future TTW events please contact me.
